Important Information

  1. If you are a car or motorcycle club, you are limited to 10 vehicles/motorcycles, unless you paid for additional space.

  2. We have the lineup route lined up based on the size of the item you listed for your entry, i.e., truck with trailer, car, walkers etc.

  3. If you have horses, it is your responsibility to diaper them and clean up any accidents that happen.

  4. If you have dogs, it is your responsibility to clean up any accidents. Additionally, all dogs not inside a vehicle must be on a leash and not allowed to run freely.

  5. Do not throw candy. If you have candy, you may hand it to spectators. This is a safety issue.

  6. The lineup is set; please do not ask for changes.

  7. Again, this year Cleveland Community College's C19 will be broadcasting the parade live and some additional times during the week. They will use part, if not all, of what you submitted; there is limited time for commentary for each entry.

From USA Executive Director, Carly Bostic

  1. It is CRUCIAL that you adhere to your lineup timeframe for BOTH your vehicle and participants. Please be sure to arrive at your assigned location on time. Your vehicle may have a different arrival time than your participants.

  2. It is imperative that your participants arrive promptly. For safety reasons, barricades WILL NOT be moved due to tardiness. Barricades are only moved for the assigned vehicle entry.

  3. Be respectful to everyone involved, from staff to volunteers and the other participants. Please remember you are a representative of your organization and this community.

  4. All performances and routines must be in a continuous forward motion. Please keep at least 25 feet between entries at all times.

  5. For safety, candy cannot be thrown.

  6. Per the City of Shelby Police Department and the Uptown Shelby Association, ALL wheels must always remain on the street. For the safety of both the participants and spectators, there will be no burnouts, wheelies, or stunts. You will be immediately removed from the parade if this occurs.

  7. Please share all the information, maps, and details with your organization's participants. They have specific instructions on where to be in the lineup. Again, barricades will not be moved for the safety of staff and volunteers.

  8. Any poor conduct, decor, or participation of any unit or individuals deemed inappropriate will result in immediate removal from the parade.

  9. Please remember to decorate your float with Christmas decor and help us spread the Christmas spirit and cheer throughout Uptown Shelby!

Violation of these rules may result in removal from the 2023 Parade and/or tentative allowance in future parades.

If you have any questions, please contact the Uptown Shelby Association office at 704-484-3100.
