The great tradition continues with horse-drawn carriage rides to see the holiday lights in Uptown Shelby. Join us to remember a slower time that families have enjoyed over the years. Dress warmly in case of cold weather. Make an evening of it with dinner, shopping, and a visit to Santa's House!

Tickets are only sold for rides the evening of (no advance ticket sales). The rides stop at 8:30 pm but we may have to end ticket sales early if the line is so long that it will take until 8:30 for everyone to ride. Ticket sales are not guaranteed to continue until 8:30 pm.

Carriage rides are available around Uptown on the four Friday nights following Thanksgiving. Adult tickets at $10 and children 4-12 are $5. Carriages depart from the Washington Street side of the Court Square.

 Shop Local - It Matters!

We hope you'll do as much of your shopping for gifts as possible at our great Uptown businesses. We have an eclectic mix of shops as well as a wide variety of restaurants and services that offer take-home packages as well as gift cards. Check out our business list at this link and learn more about why it matters to shop local below:

Support local prosperity: The dollars spent in locally-owned businesses have 3 times the impact on our community as dollars spent at national chains.

Keep our community unique: Support the one-of-a-kind businesses that make our community unique.

Get better service: These businesses survive by their reputation, which typically means customers get better and more personalized service.

Benefit from product knowledge: Local business owners are well-informed about their products and can easily adjust their inventories to include the goods and services local people want to buy.

Invest in the community: Local businesses are owned by people who live in this community, are less likely to leave, and are more invested in the community’s future.
